E3 2013: Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z Trailer + Gameplay

by on June 13, 2013

Our favorite ninja action- and boob physics developer Team Ninja is showing off their brand new Ninja Gaiden spin-off.

This game will have you taking control off the zombie ninja Yaiba who is out to take revenge on Ryu Hayabusa, the hero of previous games, during some sort of zombie outbreak.

Apparently Keiji Inafune got the idea for this by reading the ever so popular The Walking Dead comic books, and birthed the idea to combine the comic book art-style with their storied Ninja Gaiden franchise, and pit their trademark high octane hack & slash mechanics against the disgruntled deceased denizens of zombie fiction.

Another thing highlighting the fact that this is a spin-off is that they are taking stabs at humor as well as the undead, which is in stark contrast to the usually self-serious, realistically rendered presentation of previous titles. From what I’ve seen of this game, the crassness of the jokes is precisely what you would expect given this developers history.

Here’s a lengthy look at the game, courtesy of gamespot.com

I have to say that Team Ninja is a bit late to the zombie-party, as the undead are the go-to “innovation” for everything right now, and I feel like it’s becoming really tiring. No matter what some other writers on this site would argue. On the other hand, this premise is still somewhat novel, and it’ll be interesting to see how this all turns out.

Finally, here’s a look at the introductory cut-scene of the game.
