Quantic Dream (creator of Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit 911) has announced their new PS3 exclusive title Beyond: Two Souls.
The trailer features a silent and confused girl being questioned by a concerned police officer regarding her identity and why she was out in the middle of nowhere all by herself, before the station is assaulted by a SWAT task force looking to take out or apprehend the girl.
The trailer then cuts to a rapid series of clips including the girl showing of some superhuman powers and highly action-heavy segments that will occur later in the story.
The story will take place over 15 years in the life of Jodie Holmes (played by Academy Award nominee Ellen Page), a woman with a mysterious connection to a ghost or spirit entity, in a story dealing heavily in themes of what happens after death.
Aside from the fantastic graphics, the trailer itself is kind of slow until the final minute or so, but considering the history of Quantic Dream I can’t help but be intrigued by this new title. While their previous games are not without issues, David Cage and his team are certainly innovators in the interactive entertainment medium, and whatever Beyond: Two Souls has in store, I’m pretty sure it will be quite a ride.
